DEPARTMENT of LABOR Provides Fiduciary Responsibilities Webcast
The DOL is attempting to assist Plan Sponsors in understanding their fiduciary responsibilities. Specifically, getting it right means:
- Understanding your plan and your responsibilities,
- Carefully selecting and monitoring service providers,
- Making contributions on time,
- Avoiding prohibited transactions, and
- Making appropriate disclosures to plan participants and filing annual reports to the government on time.
While the Innovative Pension staff stands ready to assist with all the compliance requirements, it's difficult to provide answers to questions that Plan Sponsors don't know to ask. This webcast should assist the Trustee or Administrator with the basic requirements of acting as a fiduciary and provide some flags on restricted behaviors.
